Funded by the Circular Bio-Based Joint Undertaking and facilitated by European Bioplastics, the Coating Cluster brings together European projects working to reduce reliance on fossil-derived materials and improve the end-of-life of coated products. Its activities span innovative material design, safe-and-sustainable-by-design approaches and coating applications across sectors such as packaging, textiles, construction and marine materials.
SuperBark is developing safe, high-performance adhesives and coatings from industrial softwood bark, helping replace fossil-based materials with biobased alternatives for applications such as wood panels and packaging paper. Through the Coating Cluster, SuperBark will collaborate with other European projects, share expertise and support the development of more sustainable coating solutions.
